Alec Dartley was born in Englewood, New Jersey in 1973. He received his BA from Parsons School of Design (95) and was later awarded the prestigious Skowhegan residency. His paintings explore the psychic space between intuition and composition and have been shown at Jessica Murray, Luxe Gallery, and others. His passion for music led him to establish Aagoo Records in 1991 with the goal of creating a small label for new, experimental artists. Since then, Aagoo has exceeded expectations, releasing records from internationally recognized artists such as AU, Blevin Blectum, Israel M, OKIE DOKIE and Father Murphy. Alec can be found in his Jersey City studio where he’s currently undertaking new works in sculpture.
